Point to Ponder....

"Sex for the ordinary man is either a stress-buster or a conquest. For a great man, it is waste of energy"

The 'Good-Bad' Concept

Every human (man or woman) has her good and bad side. This 'good-bad' stuff sounds like a religious discourse. It is not. I am hardly religious.

The 'good' side is the one I mentioned in an earlier article, Mantra of True Happiness: "be Yourself". It is discovering one self and trying to fulfil one self. It is finding limitless space for one self without grabbing others' space.

The 'bad' side is the one when you are ruled by fear and you go about grabbing others' space. Dominating others, fooling others, exploiting others even if it kills them as long as you benefit. This is the animal in you. Contrary to what is widely believed man is not wholly an animal. It is a question of percentages. 60% good, 40% bad etc.

During childhood the animal percentage is low but it increases as one grows up. Some are born with higher percentage of 'Bad'. These are the very naughty, destructive, scheming children.

Some people are inflexible. Even when they grow older they are unable to increase their 'Badness' percentage. These people are called idealistic, simpletons, impractical. The fact is the dominant majority of 'bad' people do not let them be as they are. And as the inflexible 'good' people are unable to turn more 'bad' under these worldly pressures, they suffer. They are ridiculed; often driven to suicide.

Nothing productive and good comes out of the 'bad' percentage in man. It is totally unproductive. But man is too weak to resist the creeping animal in himself. If he had been able to do that our world would have been a much better place to live in.

Sex and the 'Good-Bad' Concept

Sex is pure animality. There is nothing spiritually uplifting in it. Nowadays it is fashionable to equate love with sex. Sex has no part in love. One can love others only when one is truly himself (herself).

Love is good. It is the sublime in man. Sex is an animal necessity to procreate. That is why Gandhi gave it up when he was twenty nine years old. Because sex is the 'bad' animal part in man. And Gandhi was a good man who tried to better himself till the day he was assassinated.

I am not saying sex is evil. All I am saying is that it is hardly spiritual. Godman Rajnessh said it is that. I think he was wrong.

Sex is an animal part of man as said earlier. It is necessary as is eating, drinking water or defecating. It keeps an average man healthy and sane. After all, everyone can't be Gandhi.

But sex should not be glorified as it is in western countries. It is not spiritual. It is merely an animal necessity which is best kept at the minimum. That is, if one wants to be more truly oneself. Too much sex is a waste of precious personal energy.
